Archery! (A Very Short History and How I Learned It)

So today I wanted to talk about one of my all time favorite sports. Archery! For those of you who haven't been exposed to this awesome sport I will teach you about it. Truth is chances are you've actually already seen this sport you just have no clue it was a sport.

Archery has been here for a very long time. It mostly became known when Christopher Columbus came to America and met the Native Americans. Native Americans used it as a tool for hunting to get the food for their tribe.

Then as time went on and technology began to get better they didn't need bows and arrows to hunt anymore. So rather than just getting rid of the equipment people began to shoot at targets and play for sport. That's how the sport was born!

There are all different kinds of rules for how to play. All different kinds of people can play as well. You don't have to be super strong or super fast to play. You don't need to be really athletic either. You can play it as a single person or you can play it in teams.

My dad is the one that taught me how to shoot when I was a little kid. He taught me the proper way to shoot and to do it in a safe way.

Now it is being shown and used in books, movies, and even video games as well!

These are pictures of Katniss shooting her bow:

Have you guys ever done Archery before? Do you enjoy it?
